Ten places to sell
What ten places charge to sell a digital product, and what a month costs once card fees are in. I checked every number on each company's own pricing page. On AOVANCY we keep 7.5% of a sale and pay you the rest, with no monthly fee. Some of the others take less, and the table shows which.

What comes off each sale is only part of it. Some charge every month whether you sell or not, and nearly all of them add card processing on top.

Monthly billing, as each page shows it to a visitor in the EU. Most companies list prices in US dollars; Thinkific shows euros.
Gumroad's Discover and Etsy's search can bring you buyers. We don't send traffic: buyers come from the links you share.

How it's worked out
Card fees are what each company publishes: 2.9% + $0.30 for Podia, Sellfy, Teachable (US cards) and Kajabi (Basic), 3% + $0.25 for Etsy (US), 2.9% for Thinkific. Lemon Squeezy's are inside its 5% + $0.50. Gumroad and Payhip don't give a rate, so they get 2.9% + $0.30, and so do we. What Stripe really charges us depends on the card and where it's from.
Each company is on whichever of its plans costs least that month, and Sellfy's yearly sales limits are respected. Lemon Squeezy's 1.5% for buyers outside the US, Etsy's Offsite Ads fee and Gumroad's 30% on Discover sales are left out. Fees checked on 29 September 2026; exchange rate of 28 September 2026.
The break-even
A 0% plan looks unbeatable until a slow month. Below the monthly sales in this list, our 7.5% costs you less than the monthly plan. Above them the monthly plan wins, and if you're there every month you should take it.
On a €25 sale, Payhip's free plan and Lemon Squeezy cost less than we do from the first sale, and Etsy comes out about level. Gumroad costs more at every volume we tried. Try your own prices in the earnings projector.
Questions
Of the free-to-start options here, Lemon Squeezy (5% + $0.50, card fees included) and Payhip's free plan (5%) take less than the 7.5% we keep. Gumroad takes 10% + $0.50. Sellfy, Kajabi and Thinkific take nothing per sale, and Podia and Teachable drop their fee on their pricier plans, but all five charge you every month. Which one costs you least depends on how much you sell.
When the monthly fee is smaller than the percentage that would come off that month's sales. With card fees counted and €25 sales, a monthly plan starts to cost less than us at: Sellfy around €400, Thinkific around €650, Podia around €1,050, Teachable around €1,100, and Kajabi around €2,200 a month. Below those, the percentage costs less, and a month with no sales costs nothing.
Your storefront at yourname.aovancy.com, checkout by card (or crypto, if you turn it on), delivery of your files, and payment to you by bank transfer. Every order is sold by AOVANCY SRL: we take the payment, deliver the file and handle refunds, then pay you 92.5% of the price (before card processing). There's no monthly fee on the free plan, no listing fee, and nothing to pay in a month you don't sell. Card processing is on top, and our 7.5% is worked out after it.
Most do. Gumroad, Payhip, Sellfy and Podia add what Stripe or PayPal charge, and Sellfy and Podia put that at 2.9% + 30¢. Etsy charges 3% + $0.25 in the US. Teachable, Kajabi and Thinkific run their own payments at their own rates. Lemon Squeezy is the exception: card fees are inside its 5% + $0.50. On AOVANCY card processing comes off the sale before the 7.5% we keep, and you don't need a Stripe account of your own.
It can be. Etsy's search and Gumroad's Discover can put your product in front of people who've never heard of you, and you pay for it: 15% on Etsy's Offsite Ads sales, 30% on Gumroad's Discover sales. We don't send buyers. Your storefront sells to the people you bring, so if you don't have an audience yet, weigh that before the fee.
